At The Game Awards, Don’t Nod Entertainment announced Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, but apparently the game won’t be simply a one shot.
The developer known for the Life is Strange series just announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Lost Records is actually the name of a “much larger universe” and Bloom & Rage is just the first game within it.
No further information about the universe has been provided, but this is certainly intriguing.
At the moment, we don’t know all that much about the game, but it’s coming for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in late 2024.
It tells the story of four high-school friends who bonded in the summer of 1995, Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat. Yet, after 27 years without any contact, they’re brought back together to confront a secret that had buried and sworn to never mention again.
The game is creatively directed by Michel Koch, who co-directed Life is Strange, while Luc Baghadoust reprises his role as executive producer. They actually relocated to Canada to set up a new studio in Montréal.
The new game was actually teased back in January with a mysterious image that definitely seemed to indicate a game set in the nineties or at least related to that period, and now we finally know what it is.
In the meanwhile, we recently learned that the highly successful Life is Strange has achieved 20 million players.
The episodic narrative adventure game pretty much put Don’t Nod Entertainment on the map in 2015 following a much more muted debut with Remember Me, which was released by Capcom in 2013.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Bloom & Rage and its series Lost Records will manage to replicate the success of its predecessor. For now, it certainly seems intriguing, but the jury will be out until we see and learn more.
