Today Nexon announced a big change at the helm, with CEO Owen Mahoney stepping down and Nexon Korea’s current CEO Junghun Lee taking over the leadership of the whole company.
Mahoney is not leaving the company, and will remain as a senior advisor. He will also stand for re-election to the board of Directors.
Lee’s new role as Representative Director, President, and CEO will become effective after Nexon’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in March 2024.
Lee has worked at the company for two decades and has served as CEO of Nexon Korea since 2018. Between 2008 and 2018 he led Nexon’s Live Operations teams, helping grow many successful franchises.
Under his direction, Nexon Korea has launched plenty of successful games including Dungeon & Fighter Mobile, MapleStory M, Blue Archive, and Dave the Diver.
The press release included a comment by Lee, promising a “powerful pipeline of new games that have the potential to become global hits.”

We also get a comment from Mahoney, mentioning that his successor is the perfect leader for the next generation of the company’s growth.
Leading Nexon for the last 10 years has been enormously satisfying, and with the company on such solid footing, now is the perfect time to hand over the reins to Junghun.

At the moment, Lee’s successor to the role of Nexon Korea’s CEO has not been announced yet.
Incidentally, today Nexon also announced its financial results, including record-breaking Q3 revenue and operating income, marking the sixth-straight quarter of double-digit revenue growth year-on-year.
