Undisputed Developers Provide Details on Upcoming Changes to Blocking

The Undisputed development team is actively sharing their progress while refining the game ahead of its official launch on October 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Their latest update provides details on the upcoming changes being made to fighter blocking.

During Early Access, players have expressed two main concerns: blocking certain punches, like body shots, isn’t as consistent as it should be and holding down block as a default tactic is too effective. To address this, the blocking poses in Undisputed have been updated to improve consistency, particularly for body blocks. This adjustment reduces the number of punches that slip through when they should have been blocked. Additionally, changes have been made to block health. Previously, block health regenerated quickly even if the guard was held up, but now it regenerates more slowly unless the guard is briefly released, requiring players to make strategic decisions about when to let off block.

Furthermore, the balance of block health and its depletion throughout a fight has been refined. Over-reliance on blocking as a defensive tactic now carries more risk, mirroring real-life scenarios where boxers wear down their opponents’ guards with high-volume punches. The effectiveness of a fighter’s guard will depend on their block health attribute, making it crucial to choose fighters with high stamina and recovery stats to counter opponents with strong defenses. Block health will also drain faster when a fighter is dazed, emphasizing its importance in determining whether a fighter can survive or be knocked out in the later stages of a fight.
