WHAT DO I GET FOR THE MONEY?

We pay thousands of dollars in property taxes a year. The new three-bag garbage limit got me thinking about what I was getting for that money.

Well, we haven’t had a police car in our neighbourhood in, oh, about four or five months. We did get — wait for it — a new automatic speed enforcement camera. Before the camera’s placement, we never had traffic tie-ups. Now rush-hour traffic is about a kilometre long. The sidewalks used to have large cracks in them; not anymore, they’re filled with weeds.

Now, we have the three-bags law. I read somewhere that the average family usually doesn’t have that many bags. Wonder why we have the new policy in the first place?

It’s not shocking, to me anyway, that there has been foreign interference in our elections. To hear that some of our own elected politicians have allegedly “wittingly” participated in efforts to interfere in Canadian politics is beyond disturbing.

I don’t care what party they belong to, Canadians have a right to know who they are, and if the allegations prove to be true they should be removed from office, and any crimes committed punished to the fullest extent of the law. If an average Joe were caught doing this, they would face prison time, and these people should be treated no different.

As I have mentioned before, I don’t consider the Liberals to be a legitimate government and an election should be called immediately. We need to get this country back on track before the Liberals totally destroy it with the help of the NDP.

ROUGH RIDERS MISSED

Speaking of the Ottawa Rough Riders, the Redblacks football club is paying a tribute to the old team (with their 10th anniversary home jerseys and helmets). That is a nice touch, but it is too bad the name could not have been kept.

Having said that, why could the club not have chosen another name instead of that ridiculous one that they are burdened with? Talk about supremely dull and oh, so pathetically politically correct.

By the way, go, Als, go.
