May 30 is Going to Be a Huge Day for PlayStation Gamers

  • PlayStation State of Play livestream confirmed for May 30th.
  • The event will feature looks at upcoming PlayStation games.
  • The event starts at 3 PM Pacific Time.

PlayStation gamers should mark their calendars for May 30, as a new State of Play livestream has been confirmed for that day. The previous PlayStation State of Play was held on Wednesday, January 30 and featured trailers for then-upcoming titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2, Helldivers 2, and Rise of the Ronin. There were also closer looks at numerous PlayStation games that still haven’t launched yet, such as Judas, Silent Hill 2, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

It was only a matter of time before Sony announced a second PlayStation State of Play event for 2024, and there has been plenty of speculation about when it would take place and what projects would be featured. While the initial rumors suggested that this livestream would instead be a larger PlayStation Showcase, later reports would confirm that it will indeed be a State of Play. As for what could be shown at the upcoming event, some gamers are hoping for official announcements of rumored first-party PlayStation projects like the supposed Astro Bot and LEGO Horizon games.

PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter Could Be Coming Soon

A recently discovered hardware certification from Sony may spell great news for those waiting for the PlayStation VR2 headset to land on PC.

PlayStation fans could see these confirmations sooner than they thought, as Sony just announced a State of Play livestream for Thursday, May 30. This event will start at 3 PM Pacific Time, (or 6 PM Eastern) and will reportedly be roughly 30 minutes. During this time, 14 titles will be shown off for PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation VR 2 headset. So far, there is no word on what specific games will be revealed at this upcoming State of Play.

PlayStation State of Play May 2024 Date and Start Time

  • Date: Thursday, May 30, 2024
  • Start Time: 3 PM Pacific, 6 PM Eastern, and 11 PM British Summer Time

This latest PlayStation State of Play will undoubtedly kick off a wave of big gaming events and announcements over the coming month, as spearheaded by Summer Games Fest 2024 on June 7. 55 gaming companies have already been confirmed for this year’s show, including PlayStation. Meanwhile, console rival Microsoft announced back in April that its own Xbox Games Showcase will stream on Sunday, June 9. Additionally, another Nintendo Direct will take place in June, though an exact date hasn’t yet been confirmed.

It appears that Sony is taking a head start on the competition by hosting its second State of Play for 2024 on May 30. While the exact contents of the show will remain a mystery until the event is held, PlayStation gamers can likely look forward to seeing exciting new PlayStation titles and closer looks at already confirmed releases for both the PS5 and PS VR 2 headset later this week.
