U.S. Agent Guide (Deck, Counters, Strategies)

The release of U.S. Agent has sparked controversy in Marvel Snap’s Thunderbolts Season. This two-Cost, three-Power card comes with the Ongoing ability to reduce the Power of all four-, five-, and six-Cost cards in his location by three. His ability also impacts friendly cards, forcing players to either refrain from playing vulnerable cards in his location or counter his effect using protective cards. This guide will show you how to effectively incorporate U.S. Agent into your deck and help you determine if he is truly worth your Tokens or Spotlight Keys.

The Best Deck for U.S. Agent

An ideal deck for U.S. Agent is a High Evolutionary lineup with negative power afflicters. You can replicate this setup by uniting U.S. Agent with High Evolutionary and the following cards: Wasp, Hazmat, Polaris, Scorpion, Kingpin, Shang-Chi, Abomination, Spider-Woman, The Thing, and Luke Cage.

Here’s what you need to know about the deck’s synergies:

  • High Evolutionary unlocks the hidden potential of Wasp, The Thing, and Abomination.
  • Luke Cage protects the line against U.S. Agent’s friendly fire.
  • Wasp, Hazmat, Spider-Woman, Scorpion, The Thing, and Kingpin afflict the opponent’s cards with negative Power to maximize U.S. Agent’s effect.
  • Polaris interrupts by moving two opposing cards. If she moves them to Kingpin’s lane, they will get debuffed.
  • Abomination receives a discount every time an enemy card is afflicted with negative Power.
  • Shang-Chi destroys the opposing win condition(s).

How to Play U.S. Agent

us agent character in marvel.

On his own, U.S. Agent cannot be played as a win condition. The best he can do is disrupt the enemy’s strategy or apply a last-minute debuff that might save one of the locations. If you want to make the most of him, play U.S. Agent with these strategies in mind:

  • Pair him up with Luke Cage. Without Luke Cage, U.S. Agent will cause friendly fire and afflict your cards with -3 Power.
  • Send his cooked cards to the other side. If you prefer not to play Luke Cage, consider using cards like Annihilus to shoot afflicted cards to the enemy’s location. If you opt for this approach, have Selene assist U.S. Agent.
  • Go all-in on negative Power affliction. Utilize other negative Power afflicters like Spider-Woman and Scorpion to maximize U.S. Agent’s impact, as his effect alone might not secure a win.

How to Counter U.S. Agent

You have two ways to counter U.S. Agent: Deploy Enchantress to halt his Ongoing effect or utilize Luke Cage to remove his debuff. In both scenarios, U.S. Agent is completely nullified and unable to affect any other cards. Alternatively, as a passive strategy against him, you can refrain from playing four-, five-, or six-Cost cards in his lane. This way, he will have no targets to debuff and will remain inactive for the rest of the match.

Is U.S. Agent Worth It?

a us agent card variant in marvel snap.

U.S. Agent has garnered the reputation of being Marvel Snap’s worst April drop. While he might find some utility in niche decks, particularly those focused on junk or High-Evo lineups, he fails to significantly impact the metagame. Moreover, his effect can be swiftly countered with Luke Cage, rendering U.S. Agent essentially useless as a 3-Power drop. It’s advisable to refrain from spending Tokens or Spotlight Keys on U.S. Agent, especially when more reliable releases like Red Guardian are lined up for April’s Season.
