Re: With ridership still stalling, OC Transpo announces layoffs, online, Feb. 6

Article content

Why governments are involved with transportation is puzzling. They are taxpayer money pits, and that pit becomes larger every year. The top boss at this bloated behemoth of an organization stated that OC Transpo ridership will be 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels for the next decade. Really? What a shocker.

The “Streetcar to Nowhere” has been a truly unmitigated disaster since its inception, and that has permanently turned off many commuters, along with the horrible red and white rocket service that has performed like one of North Korea’s. People working from home either full-time or part of the week have also contributed to this failure.

The city needs to sell off this entity and a private organization should take it. They must have a take-no-prisoners agenda, which would include customer service as the No. 1 priority, along with efficiency and trimming the terribly bloated workforce.

RISE UP, DRIVERS

Drivers who can barely see over the steering wheels of their cars should be caught and given a ticket/fine.

Have you ever slouched down far enough in your vehicle to just see over your steering wheel, then tried to drive it properly? You can’t!

Shorter folks should put a thick cushion under their butts for better sight lines and better vehicle control or get ticketed for being a danger on the road.

EMBARRASSING FOREIGN POLICY

Re: Slava Ukraini Am Yisrael Chai, editorial, Feb. 7

Canada’s foreign policy regarding Israel’s war against terrorists has become an embarrassment to many Canadians.

Watching our “esteemed prime minister” calling for a ceasefire with terrorists just to preserve a particular voting bloc is making us look pathetic to the world.

The sooner we can get rid of the inept federal Liberals, the better. Canada needs a real leader, not some global elitist who’s stated in the past that Canadians do not have a core or mainstream identity.
