How To Get Wild Strikes (Druid Rune)

In WoW Classic: Season of Discovery, Druids and Hunters are given abilities that previously were locked to either the Alliance or the Horde. While Hunters get Aspect of the Lion, which brings Blessing of Kings to the Horde, Druids get Wild Strikes, which brings Windfury to the Alliance.

Both the North American and European regions are gaining plenty of WoW Season of Discovery servers – and so is Australia and the OCE region.

It’s an extremely powerful Rune that is practically required for parties with multiple melee DPS classes, and thankfully, it’s relatively easy to get by around Level 13 to 14 – as long as you can get to the Stonetalon Mountains, that is. This guide covers information about the effects of Wild Strikes, as well as specifics on how to unlock the Wild Strikes Rune for Druids.

  • While Shapeshifted into Cat or Bear form, nearby party members have a 20% chance to gain an extra attack
    • Only procs with melee attacks – about 1/5 hits will gain the extra attack
    • Extra attacks hit with 20% extra Attack power, for a more than 20% DPS boost to all melee classes
  • Does not stack with the Shaman’s Windfury Totem

Like Aspect of the Lion for Hunters, Wild Strikes gives Druids an effect that has never been available to one faction. In this case, it’s the Windfury effect, which before now has been an exclusively Shaman ability – a class that’s exclusive to the Horde. This means that for the first time, Alliance players can benefit from Windfury and Blessing of Kings at the same time, under different names.

Wild Strikes gives Druids the ability to empower their nearby melee party members with extra attacks. While active, every melee hit has a 20% chance to proc an extra attack that adds 20% attack power to its damage. Because the extra attack is slightly more powerful than normal, Wild Strikes equates to a slightly more than 20% increase in DPS for melee damage-dealers.

It’s an essential Druid Rune for endgame content, especially in parties with lots of melee specs, so be sure to pick it up as soon as possible before hitting level 25.

How To Get The Wild Strikes Rune In WoW SoD

World of Warcraft Season of Discovery WoW SoD Druid Wild Strikes Rune Guide Stonetalon Location

To unlock Wild Strikes WoW SoD players must head to the Stonetalon Mountains. Both Tauren and Night Elf Druids must head to the same spot and farm the same enemies – the southeast entrance to the Stonetalon Mountains from the Barrens. Here, Druids will find Grimtotem Tauren enemies at around Level 15. Kill enemies until you get an Idol of the Wild, then equip it into your Relic slot.

Once equipped, Druids must heal 10 different friendly Beasts to unlock the Rune itself. Friendly Beasts include Hunter pets, shapeshifted Druids and Shamans in Ghost Wolf form. The one stickler is that these Beasts have to already have HP missing, and it doesn’t count if they are at full Health. Head to hot combat zones like Moonbrook in Westfall or around the Crossroads and look for Hunter pets to heal. Once you have healed 10, use the Idol from the Character/Equipment screen, and voila – the Wild Strikes Rune will become unlocked & engravable.
