Link’s Awakening has been remade; 1 to 1 scale 120 FPS

The world of Koholint Island has been reborn in a fan-made PC version of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. This port isn’t just a coat of paint either; it’s a complete remake of this classic adventure. It’s pretty impressive, to be honest.

As found by Jogn Linnem of X (formally Twitter), this Link’s Awakening remake, known as Link’s Awakening DX HD, is a breathtaking sight. It retains the original’s charm while bringing it to stunning detail on modern displays. It supports widescreen, so you won’t have two black bars on the side of your PC. The best part is that it goes far beyond this.

This PC remake has an insanely high framerate, which would make sense because it’s an older game, but it’s not held back by pixel stutter. Every sword swing, puzzle click, and enemy encounter now glides with a smooth 120 fps, so each frame is rendered for your eye to pick up.

We spoke on the widescreen, which seems strange until you realize why widescreen works. When you zoom out, you’ll see it isn’t just a visual upgrade. The entire world is rendered simultaneously, and it lives alongside you. There is activity going on in places you’re nowhere near. You can even find secrets because you can see from a zoomed perspective.

For those who have wanted to play this game but thought it was too dated, this is what you’ve been waiting for. Even if you’ve already played and want to try again, this version feels like the best one. It’s completely free to download and will work on most PCs. It’s also the original Legend of Zelda game, so it’s unlikely that your PC can’t run it.
