A bizarre Valorant Champions 2023 skin glitch turned the Sunset map dark, shocking a player mid-game. Thanks to a finisher animation taking over the entire map, a confused Valorant player had to face off against enemies in an entirely different state of the day. But despite it being a glitch, the map itself looked gorgeous in the animation’s vivid orange hues.

How did the Valorant Champions 2023 skin turn Sunset dark

Thanks to a mid-game glitch, player Early__ reported on Reddit that their game had bugged out, turning Sunset into a night map. They’ve even got footage of the whole thing, complete with a firefight covered in darkness. Their body appears to be missing, with only the floating weapon shown in the footage. Surprisingly, even the reflections across the map changed to the colors of the skin’s finisher animation, bathing it in a shade of orange.

It’s an interesting turn of events especially after Valorant shared a night mode teaser earlier this year on X (formerly Twitter). The possibility of map variants was also teased in a Reddit AMA last year. Does this mean that night maps are arriving? It’s too early to say.

The Valorant Champions 2023 has a neat finisher animation

Usually, dropping a player at the end of a round with this skin results in a flashy orange animation with character images on holographic displays. But due to a glitch, this happened on a massive scale.

However, considering how the map responded well to the glitch’s takeover, we might get some Valorant maps set at night soon. Remixes of existing maps like these would also be a fun way to entice both current players and newcomers into Riot Games’ tense squad-based shooter.

Players react to Sunset turning dark due to the Valorant Champions 2023 skin glitch

The Reddit thread was filled with speculation on what’s next from Riot Games. User DiamondPower500 noted that ‘the sun set’ while user themaskedlover said ‘We need night time maps in Valorant.’ Another user who goes by FANCYLlAMA05 also liked how the Champions theme looped over the in-game music. Fan feedback has been pretty positive overall, meaning that night-time maps would certainly be met with a positive reception.

That covers the bizarre Valorant Champions 2023 skin glitch. While this didn’t affect gameplay outside of getting used to the new colors and range of vision, it’s an interesting glimpse into a potential map revamp. For more on Riot’s shooter, check out this eerily accurate Jett cosplay.
