However, up until recently, there were only a few options to choose from, not only in terms of Nintendo franchises and known characters but also when it came to background and icon border selection. Nintendo decided to give fans a few more options by adding a new feature to the Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Players can now exchange Platinum Points for character icons, borders, and backgrounds thanks to the Nintendo Switch Online. This addition gave fans tons of new options to choose from, giving players a much more personalized experience by significantly diversifying user profile icons. As part of a new limited-time event, players can redeem Nintendo-themed holiday icons, and this guide will show players how to do it.
Available Nintendo Holiday Icons
Nintendo has added tons of holiday-themed icons to the Nintendo Switch Online app. Players can redeem up to 20 new character icons and a bunch of backgrounds and borders, allowing them to create the most beautiful icons for the holiday season. Here are all the icon options they can obtain:

There are also ten backgrounds and ten icon borders. In total, to acquire all of these customization options, gamers will need to spend 300 Platinum Points. These icons are marked with the number 2023, meaning that this event might take place once again next year with brand-new options to choose from.
How to Redeem and Make Custom Holiday Icons
Nintendo has made these icons available in the past as a way to promote certain games. When Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder were released, players also got to redeem icons related to their favorite gaming characters. Gamers will once again be able to redeem the holiday icon customization parts by visiting the Missions & Rewards tab in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Character icons cost ten Platinum Points, while backgrounds and borders cost five Platinum Points each.
Since the app can only be accessed by those who own a Nintendo Switch Online membership, players must subscribe to the online service to unlock the ability to make custom profile icons.
Players can create holiday profile icons by opening the Icon Collection menu in the Missions & Rewards tab. Here, they will be able to select a pre-made icon or make their own.
The Happy Holidays icon selection will be available until December 25, 2023, at 7:59 PM ET. So, gamers who want to get them all must redeem as many icon options as possible before they’re gone for good.
