Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is Fully Playable, Official Details Coming Early 2024 – Rumour

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is less than a month away from launch now, but while it’s being billed as a smaller and more focused experience, Ubisoft currently also has the franchise’s next big open world RPG instalment in the works. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will finally take the series to feudal Japan, and an article published by Tom Henderson on Insider Gaming has provided some potential new details on what to expect from the game.

For starters, Henderson has reiterated that the game will feature two playable protagonists– a male Samurai who is an African refugee, and a female shinobi. Both characters will allegedly come with their own unique sets of abilities and weapons for players to make use of in gameplay.

Interestingly, Henderson also claims that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be borrowing some stealth-focused mechanics from fellow Ubisoft franchise Splinter Cell. Players will, for instance, be able to use shadows to conceal themselves from enemies, or extinguish torches to create darkness to aid in stealth. Meanwhile, players will also have the option to hide bodies.

Interestingly, the game will allegedly also feature destructible environments. While the full extent of destructibility is unclear, players will be able to “break anything that you could expect to break in real life” with the tools at their disposal, like slashing through a screen door to break it open.

It’s also claimed that behind the scenes, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is now fully playable from start to finish. The game is targeting a Holiday 2024 launch window, and Ubisoft is allegedly planning to reveal its first official details early next year.
