The Aberdeen Albatross, that is what it is. Now the City of Ottawa is intending to pour good taxpayer money after bad to fix a leaky roof, among other pavilion deficiencies.
The place was an eyesore from the start and certainly does not deserve heritage status. Just because a structure was built back in the late 1800s does not mean that it was an architectural wonder.

WRITER MISPLACED SENSE OF HUMOUR?
Re: YOU SAID IT: Pigging out and food banks, letter to the editor, online, July 10

In these trying times, a 10-minute display of, admittedly, competitive eaters stuffing hot dogs into their mouths is not everybody’s cup of tea. Maybe the reader would be more at ease with the other contests involving the quickest ingesting of mayo or butter products.

The disturbing recent political news involving Justin Trudeau’s denial of his fate, Donald Trump’s bombastic unsuitability for the presidency and Joe Biden’s mental deterioration doesn’t indicate that democracy is failing. Big-party democracy is failing.
The enablers and power-hungry back-roomers, who keep the inept in power, are the ones who must go — now. It is time to examine how we conduct our democracy and set new rules and standards. The power-hungry backroom manipulators must go!
