Please tell me when the terms “areas of concern”, “requires immediate attention” or “greater emphasis must be placed” were replaced with the word “crisis”.

We no longer have a system to deal with issues on an as-required basis; everything is deemed a crisis. We have a climate crisis, homelessness crisis, housing crisis, immigration crisis, opioid crisis.

I am starting to feel like Chicken Little.

DEPORTING FAMILIES, BUT NOT …

Re: Immigration minister mulling revoking terror suspect’s citizenship, online, Aug. 14

Hard-working families with kids who want to become Canadians and pay their way, our immigration minister has no problem deporting them, but he appears to be unable to bring himself to cancel the citizenship and deport accused terrorists.

POLITICAL PRIDE

Re: Pride and prejudice?; Jewish Federation of Ottawa pulls out of Capital Pride parade following pro-Palestinian statement, Aug. 16

It seems to me that the whole Pride community has been hijacked by those with more political agendas. Over the last few years, it has gone from celebrating being a part of one community to being more radical and in-your-face, and that’s not good.

If that organization wants to become political, that is fine, but don’t expect the citizens of Ottawa to pay for it.

Our world is so insane. I’m afraid to press alt right or alt left on my computer keyboard anymore. Maybe I should just press escape.
