If you’re using an Xbox Adaptive controller with additional peripherals and you’re worried about the recently surfaced error 0x82d60002 affecting unauthorized accessories, you can rest easy.
Following our inquiry, Microsoft reached out to TechRaptor to provide further clarity on what gamers using the Adaptive Controller can expect.
Luckily, according to the statement we received, any peripherals plugged into the Adaptive Controller’s USB and 3.5 mm ports won’t be affected at all by the error.
Below you can find the full statement.
There is no impact to players using the Xbox Adaptive Controller and any peripherals plugged into the Xbox Adaptive Controller’s USB and 3.5MM ports.
This includes both licensed Designed for Xbox devices listed on the Accessories Hub Page, as well as those that currently connect with the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
If you do not receive an error code, then your accessory will not be impacted. For questions, please reach out to the Disability Answer Desk.
Microsoft also changed all of its related support pages to reflect this.
This certainly helps, because many gamers using the Xbox Adaptive controller need additional peripherals to make full use of its capabilities.
That’s pretty much at the base of its concept, and the need to obtain licensing from Microsoft to use them would have pretty much crippled the usability of the whole accessory, which is critical for many.
If you’re not up to speed with the issue, with the latest build of the Xbox software, new security measures were introduced that return an error 0x82d60002 when an unlicensed accessory is plugged into the console.
After two weeks from the error, another error (0x82d60003) will appear, completely blocking the accessory from working.
