A 28-year-old woman who stayed at the same hotel as Liam Payne in Buenos Aires revealed the final moments of the pop star's life to the Daily Mail. She sang that she had a disturbing encounter with the former One Direction man shortly before his death. According to her, Liam was visibly upset and blurted out: “I was in a boy band, that's why I'm so disappointed.”
The young woman, who did not want to be identified, said she was at the Casa Sur hotel for a wedding and ran into Payne in the lobby. “I walked into the hotel and he was waiting for the elevator and it was clear he wanted someone to recognize him,” she said. “When the elevator arrived, he suddenly said to us, 'Yes, it's Liam!' “He said… Then he said, ‘I would like a hug,’ and asked us to get on the elevator.”
Despite the friendly attitude, the situation quickly became worrying. “He grabbed a girl and pretended to strangle her, but not violently, but it was still very disturbing,” the young woman said. He decided not to enter the elevator and saw Payne return to the lobby a moment later, this time holding a laptop.
Laptop incident and disturbing reports
The witness said Liam sat on a couch using the laptop's accessibility mode and began reading his emails out loud: “I have a blind relative and I noticed the computer was talking loudly. Suddenly, he saw something annoying. He yelled, 'To hell with this trash, man!'
Subsequently, the singer repeatedly threw the laptop to the ground, to the surprise of those present. “I went to him and said, 'Are you okay?' I asked him, but he murmured,” said the young woman. It was then that he confessed: “I was in a boy band. “That's why I'm so disappointed.”
Last moments outside the hotel
After smashing the laptop, Liam Payne returned to his room on the third floor. But on a final visit to the lobby, he tripped and fell to the floor. The staff helped him into the elevator. According to the young woman, one of the men who accompanied the singer apologized to the guests: “I'm sorry, sometimes he's too high.”
After a while, the hotel staff, concerned about the artist's health, called the police, especially since he was not seen in the morning. A staff member also mentioned that Liam's room must have been freed up for another guest who had booked the same suite.
“The police didn't take long to arrive and at first we thought they were going to take him out, but then, when the staff started running like crazy, we suddenly realized the seriousness of what had happened,” says the young man. The woman continued on her account.
At 5:04 p.m., the hotel alarm sounded, marking the moment Liam fell from the balcony of his room. The young woman who was last photographed when the singer finally boarded the elevator described the atmosphere of shock and confusion among staff and guests. “Some of my friends saw the fall and it was horrible,” he said. “At first we thought he was injured, but then we saw the body in the yard.”
The teenager concluded by saying that she spent the night outside the hotel due to the fear and noise of the fans gathered outside, who tried to pay tribute to the singer by singing his songs.
