Why Kamala Harris will win

Trump's rally in New York once again highlighted the ugly side of MAGA.

“Never apologize, never explain.” Donald Trump was indoctrinated in this mafia and dictator rule as a young man by Mafia lawyer Roy Cohn, and the former president still adheres to it today. That's almost always the case, as now his campaign is making one of the very rare exceptions. It apologizes for the racist joke comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made at a Trump rally at New York's legendary Madison Square Garden last Sunday – if you thought that was funny. Senior Trump adviser Danielle Alvarez said the joke “does not reflect the views of President Trump or his campaign.”

what happened? Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage,” insulting the more than three million U.S. citizens who live on the island. These people have no say in who will win the White House because, although Puerto Rico is part of the United States, it is not an independent state and can only send one representative to Washington, D.C., without voting rights.

However, a large number of Puerto Ricans live in the United States, with more than 270,000 in Pennsylvania alone. As we all know, every vote counts in this swing state, and Puerto Ricans living here are allowed to go to the polls. The ignorant comedian's tasteless “joke” thus sparked a political storm.

Puerto Ricans took to the roadblocks to demand an apology from Trump and the Republican Party. They also remember Trump's humiliating attitude during the September 2017 storm disaster. At that time, the current president threw a roll of paper to the waiting people.

The anger runs deep. Even Angel Cintron, leader of the island’s Grand Old Party (GOP), called Trump and asked him to distance himself from Hinchcliffe’s remarks. To make matters worse, Latin pop superstar Bad Bunny has now joined Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen in calling for a vote for Harris.

Meanwhile, prominent Republican representatives are trying to limit the damage, such as Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who has to worry about his re-election. In one post, Marco Rubio, another senator from the Sunshine State, also stressed that “these jokes came from a comedian who seems to be offensive.” There are also many Puerto Ricans living in Florida.

The rally at Madison Square Garden was considered a “Festival of Love.” Instead, it turned into a festival of hate and vulgarity, reminiscent of a 1939 event by an American fascist organization praising Hitler and the Nazis.

For about six hours, speakers took turns describing Harris as a prostitute controlled by a pimp, comparing her to the “antichrist” or generally slandering Democrats as “degenerate.” Elon Musk strikes his usual macho pose and comes out as Dark MAGA, whatever that is.

Tucker Carlson, however, reached the pinnacle of embarrassment. With hysterical, girlish laughter, he called Harris “a Samoan-Malaysian low-IQ ex-prosecutor from California,” whatever that means. He heaped praise on Trump, whom he had insulted not long ago. “Donald Trump has empowered us to tell the truth about ourselves and the world,” Carlson lamented.

Michelle Goldberg explained what he meant in the New York Times:

“Trump has lifted the taboo that once prevented conservative entertainers like Carlson from embracing Holocaust deniers, as he did last month. Trump has given him the freedom to claim that January 6 did not happen Insurrection, Carlson mocked this again Ultimately, Trump allowed Carlson and his supporters to believe that he could not lose the election fairly.”

Trump himself repeated his attacks on immigrants and “the enemy within,” accompanied by his usual self-pity. Most importantly, he made clear how far Republicans had strayed from decency and convention. The New York Times noted: “Computer-based analysis shows that he has used the emoji telling children to rinse their mouths with soap at least 140 times this year alone.”

Kamala Harris is holding her graduation ceremony today. This happened on the Ellipse in front of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., where Trump incited the “MAGA” mob on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. There is no need for the Vice President to stoop to the primitive level of her opponent. She could point out that the International Monetary Fund and the conservative Wall Street Journal now also have high praise for the U.S. economy.

Or Harris can believe that enthusiasm among Democrats remains high. The Washington Post refused to recommend her candidacy, causing the paper to lose more than 200,000 subscribers. This is why Jeff Bezos personally feels the need to explain this.

As Trump and the MAGA movement increasingly reveal their true colors, the sky becomes brighter for Harris. For veteran political strategist James Carville — who is usually right — the game is over: “Everything is going to be fine, America,” he wrote in an op-ed in The New York Times . “Multiple Sclerosis. Harris will be elected the next President of the United States. I know that for sure.”
