Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game filled with many fascinating weapons that the player can find and give to their characters. Some of these weapons are harder than others to get.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Wyll Build
Wyll is a powerful character that can be an amazing companion throughout BG3.
One weapon that requires some effort from the player’s side is the Blood of Lathander, as the quest to get it might take some time and require you to go through many trials and puzzles to solve.
Reaching the Rosymorn Monastery
To reach Rosymorn Monastery, the player must head to the Mountain Pass region, which is north of the Blighted Village. The player should make sure to complete everything from Act 1 before heading there as it could end the events of the Grove if the player goes there.
The monastery will have a waypoint next to it and the player will have to make their way through a broken window inside.
The player might’ve been in that area before so all they would need to do in that case is use the waypoint of the Monastery or of the Crèche to get in that area faster.
Where To Get The 4 Ceremonial Weapons
Once the player reaches the Rosymorn Monastery and explores it more, they’ll soon come to notice an odd room with stained painted glass on the ground. It’s essential that the player solves this puzzle if they wish to get the Blood of Lathander later.
In this room, there are four altars, and three of them have nothing on them, but one has a sword, the Ceremonial Longsword. With this on, the altar is glowing. Do not take it for now. This is the player’s clue as to what must be done.
Indeed, the player is going to have to collect the three remaining weapons and put each on their respective altar to unlock the stone wall and get an important item.
The Ceremonial Mace
This weapon will probably already be with the player as they can get it by defeating the Kobold which are first encountered the second the player enters the Rosymorn Monastery.
Note: Any mace works if the player can’t find the ceremonial mace. This is not the case for the other weapons, however.
The Ceremonial Battleaxe
To get this weapon, the player must defeat a Guardian of Faith that’s in a room ahead of the room with the stained glass. The player can either access it from a broken window or by lockpicking the door leading to it.
Ceremonial Warhammer
To find this weapon, the player should exit the room where they defeated the guardian and look for veins leading up. Once there, the player will most likely have to fight and kill some eagles to get their hands on the weapon.
Solving the Puzzle
With all the weapons, the player should head back to the stained glass room. There, the player will have to put each weapon on its correct altar.
The battleaxe goes on Vaseid’s altar, the Mace on Dawnmaster Stockhold’s altar, and the warhammer on Dawnmaster Seed’s altar. With that, the stone wall opens and reveals a pouch with a note to the next Dawnmaster, but more interestingly, the Dawnmaster’s crest.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Beat Malus Thorm
Here’s how the player can take down Malus Thorm in BG3.
Note: If you, for some reason, can’t find one of the 4 ceremonial weapons or don’t want to bother looking for them, you can use a thieves’ tool on the stone wall in the room to unlock it without completing the puzzle. That said, you will need to pass a 30 Dexterity check, but it’s definitely achievable.
Reaching the Crèche Y’llek
With the Dawnmaster’s crest in hand, the player must now head to the Crèche Y’llek. The player will have to head down the stairs and past a statue until they reach it. If the player has been in the Crèche before, they can simply use the waypoint to teleport.
When inside the Crèche, the player might have to talk their way through to enter. And when that’s done, the player might have some other things to do, but when it’s time, they must head into the captain’s quarters.
There, they’ll have to pickpocket the Gith Shard from Kith’rak Therezzyn, or, fight and kill her. However, the first option is definitely easier.
Once the player has the Gith Shard, they can insert it into the Githyanki Barrier Disruptor to open the paths forward.
The Inquisitor’s Chamber
Once inside, the player will likely have to fight Ch’r’ai W’wargaz as he will want to take the player’s artifact.
Once this fight is over, the player will come face to face with Vlaakith, the Githyanki Queen. She will want the player to kill their guardian, and will be extremely mad if that doesn’t happen, which it won’t as the guardian is unkillable by the player.
However, now the entire Crèche is hostile. But, the player still has the Blood of Lathander to find, which is very close.
The Statues That Open a Paths Forward
In one of the rooms around the one that the player defeated in Ch’r’ai W’wargaz, the player will find two statues. To open the paths forward, they must reposition these statues to fit the direction of the sun rising and setting based on the map.
In short, the statue on the left should be pointing west, or directly towards the wall in front, and the statue on the right needs to be in the opposite direction. With that, a passage will open.
Note: If the statues don’t move, the player might need a character with higher Strength to move them, or they will need to damage the statue slightly.
The player will find a door ahead where the real quest for getting the Blood of Lathander starts.
Finding the Blood of Lathander
Once inside the secret chamber, it’s going to be quite simple. For the first room, the player will just have to break the energy source (which looks like a crystal) to open the paths forward.
In the second room, the player should avoid the energy emitted from the Dawnbreaker and quickly use a disarming toolkit to get rid of it. However, this won’t open the door. Instead, the player will have to climb left of the Dawnbreaker. They’ll run into another energy source crystal that they can break, but it’s not necessary here.
Next to that source of energy, there’s another Dawnkbreaker that the player must again disarm. Once it’s broken, the player should head directly ahead of it and climb down. There the player will spot the next source of energy crystal that they need to shatter to continue ahead.
With the door finally opened, you’re mostly done. All you need to do is head up the stairs where you will see the Blood of Lathander. You shouldn’t, however, reach for the mace just yet, as you need to do something beforehand.
Indeed, you should first insert an item you brought with you into the crest panel – the Dawnmaster’s crest.
With that in, you will acquire the Blood of Lathander. Now, you must simply exit the Crèche as fast as possible as everyone will be hostile and waiting to attack you.
