There are many times in Destiny 2 when I read a Seasonal Challenge or Bounty that asks me to deal damage with non-precision weapons and I don’t know what that means. If you are like me, come along, and together, we’ll learn what non-precision weapons are in Destiny 2.
All non-precision weapons in Destiny 2
Whether you are trying to deal maximum damage to enemies with difficult-to-hit precision spots or you are looking to complete a Seasonal Challenge or Bounty, it’s important to know what weapons count as non-precision. Almost all weapons can deal precision damage if an enemy’s precision spot is big enough, but by and large, these are the weapons considered non-precision.

Here are all the non-precision weapons in Destiny 2:
- Rocket Launchers
- Grenade Launchers
- Fusion Rifles
- Swords
- Glaives
Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers are non-precision weapons because they shoot one rocket or pellet that immediately explodes on impact, which negates precision damage. Fusion Rifles can deal precision damage, but they are considered non-precision weapons because their burst shot makes it hard to land hits on precision spots.
Swords are considered non-precision weapons because there is no way to hit a precision spot with a sword. Besides their projectiles that act similarly to Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launchers that can deal precision damage but usually don’t because they explode, Glaives are also non-precision weapons because, like Swords, their melee capabilities don’t allow you to hit a precision spot.
In my opinion, Rocket Launchers are the best non-precision weapons in Destiny 2 right now because they deal incredibly high damage to bosses and are great for add clear. The best DPS strategies in the game often incorporate Rocket Launchers.
Fusion Rifles are the next best for DPS. Pairing a Rocket Launcher with a Fusion Rifle is a common DPS strategy to deal high numbers during boss DPS phases.
If you’re looking for add clearing machines, Grenade Launchers, Swords, and Glaives are your go-to. I prefer Grenade Launchers, especially if you have a good God Roll since they can dish wide damage. Swords are fun and can work well against bosses and Glaives are arguably the weakest, but they are fun weapons to use.
