Grand Theft Auto 6 is happening. It’s still not scheduled to come out for a while yet, but Rockstar has at least treated us to an official first look at the game. Everything about the brief trailer is incredible from the Bonnie and Clyde influence to the parodies of modern America. As with everything though, dozens of memes have surfaced online. There are memes for almost everything pop culture, and one of the most popular and reoccurring are Breaking Bad memes. These memes see Walter White enter the world of other famous fictional landscapes, and this short but brilliant GTA 6 x Breaking Bad meme is hilariously foreboding for the NPCs of Vice City.
Although very short, the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is still remarkable. A former Rockstar dev promises that all the scenes are captured in-game, and a recreation of the trailer in GTA 5 shows just how far the video games industry has progressed over the past decade. We don’t really see much action in the trailer at all, but we at least clap our eyes on the beautiful sunny beaches of Vice City as well as the wild nightlife.
We also get a look at all of the NPCs who look better and more realistic than ever. And, as NPCs, many of them are designated cannon fodder for players ready to shoot first ask never, and drive over everyone like a remorseless madman.
GTA 6 x Breaking Bad meme
A GTA 6 x Breaking Bad meme created by TikTok user beautyofframes is hilarious. It’s only 12 seconds long, but it shows Walter White sitting on Vice City beach. As the trailer music, Love Is A Long Road by Tom Petty, plays, Walter gets out of his beach chair and looks aghast at the Rockstar Games presents credit in the sky. It’s actually a really well-edited clip because of the shock on Walter White’s face along with how smoothly he is edited into the trailer. It’s also befitting that he is wearing a jumper that meets the game’s color theme, pink.
The implication of the meme is that Walter White is one of the game’s NPCs and that the Rockstar Games presents credit is a warning of incoming danger. Essentially, as an NPC, he is self-aware that he is in a video game, similar to Ryan Reynolds in the movie Free Guy. The comments on TikTok are full of people praising its creativity and humor, and it’s also been shared on Reddit with people laughing, too.
NPCs are perhaps the most interesting aspect of GTA 6. They look incredibly realistic in the trailer thanks to the different body types and proportions, and fans are simply amazed by the realistic body physics seen in a woman just running on the beach. Players are bound to want to gun, punch, and drive into almost every NPC on sight as is Grand Theft Auto tradition, but it’ll be interesting to see how NPCs and the police react to danger. Many fans crave an overhauled police AI similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, and in RDR2 the NPCs all have minimal interactions and movements that make them more lifelike.
Unfortunately, we have to wait until 2025 for GTA 6 to come out, that is unless you’re on PC where things are even more frustrating. Fortunately, there are still many upcoming games to anticipate and play during 2024 while waiting for the next Grand Theft Auto.
