Vice President Kamala Harris will release a report on Saturday detailing her medical history and health in an effort to get former President Donald Trump to do the same.

The detailed report concludes: “He possesses the physical and mental resilience necessary to successfully perform the duties of president, including those of chief executive, head of state and commander in chief,” according to a senior campaign adviser.

Harris aides insist the report is an opportunity to highlight Trump's health and mental acuity because the 78-year-old GOP nominee would be the oldest president by the end of his potential second term, the aide said.

President Biden81 withdrew from the July 2024 presidential election under pressure from the Democratic Party over concerns about his advanced age and apparent fatigue. Since then, Democrats have been trying to attack Trump because of what was once their vulnerability in the election.

The decision to release Harris' medical information came after a New York Times report found that Trump had not been transparent about his own health even after a would-be assassin's bullet grazed him in the head during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, July last year.

The report found that Trump did not disclose his medical records during his first campaign for the White House in 2016. The report also found that the Trump White House did not release accurate information about his health after his 2020 Covid-19 diagnosis, and the reports detailed that the president was sicker than his doctors had publicly stated.

“In 2024, days before he became the official Republican Party presidential nominee for the third time, he was grazed by a would-be assassin's bullet, yet the campaign failed to hold a briefing on his condition, release hospital records, and attention was paid to the emergency physicians who treated him, he is available for an interview,” the report reads. He then quotes several medical experts who express concerns that Trump could enter the Oval Office in a second term with several “potentially troubling issues.”

The last health update from Trump came in November 2023, when his personal physician, Bruce Aronwald, stated in a letter that Trump's “overall health is excellent.”

“His physical examinations were within the normal range and his cognitive examinations were exceptional,” Aronwald wrote.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

During an August interview with CBS News, Trump insisted that he was “glad” to release his medical records, noting at the time that he received an “excellent score” on a recent medical exam.
