About
Since its debut in arcades in 2005, G.rev‘s renowned shoot ’em up Under Defeat has gained a loyal following through various console ports and updates. Now, Under Defeat is back on modern hardware, featuring game modes from previous versions and new background music from the original composer.
Key Features
Pilot an Attack Helicopter and Destroy Enemy Forces with Air and Ground Attacks – Players take control of an attack helicopter, equipped with both air and ground shots. Execute missions using simple yet three-dimensional maneuvering and strategic stage progression. Get immersed in a realistic battlefield, witnessing the beauty of trees swaying from explosions, allies falling to enemy attacks, and intense communications between enemy and ally alike.
A Variety of Game Modes – The game offers three distinct modes—“Arcade,” “New Order,” and “New Order+”—each with unique screen sizes and stage configurations. A “Training” mode allows you to practice your favorite stages and record replay videos. You can also compete with players nationwide in the online ranking system’s score attack. A “Gallery” mode will allow you to view in-game illustrations and materials based on your progress.
New Background Music and a Special Edition – This version includes new background music by Shinji Hosoe, the composer of the original Under Defeat, as well as from members of SuperSweep. You can choose your preferred background music version, including music from previous releases. A special edition of the game will also be available, featuring a soundtrack CD with the new music and a fan book containing illustrations and developer interviews.
Under Defeat will launch digitally via the eShop on December 5 in Japan. We’ll let you know when a Western release is announced.
