As captains, players will have to navigate their ships in the treacherous waters of Skull and Bones to gain resources and opportunities by completing a myriad of contracts from vendors, local factions, and notorious kingpins. The gameplay deep dive also showcased naval battles, confrontations fraught with the risk of losing everything for the grandest loot. Armed with a diverse arsenal of weapons, players will engage in encounters to outgun rival ships and terrorize enemy forts. From the coast of Africa to the tropical islands of the East Indies, players have to navigate through unpredictable weather, wildlife, and relentless pirate hunters.
Alongside that, the gameplay deep dive demonstrated how players can enjoy solo play or, alternatively, form alliances and encounter other players to create groups with up to two friends, participating in shareable contracts and rewards. For those craving more risk, optional PvP servers are available, while alternative PvE servers provide a less competitive environment for players looking for a more cooperative experience. In Skull and Bones, the gaming experience centers around the captain’s perspective, limiting the player’s ability to explore the ship or engage in island raids while sailing. Although captains can temporarily leave the helm to investigate hideouts and outposts, the gameplay primarily revolves around embodying the ship during seafaring moments.
Ahead of the official launch, Skull and Bones players can also access a closed beta scheduled from December 15 to December 18. Skull and Bones faced a rocky development, marked by delays and uncertainties. Yet, as the game finally prepares for launch with an official release date, those who followed the game’s development might be closer to finally experiencing it.
