But the TSB app is experiencing problems this morning, leaving thousands of Brits unable to access their accounts.

According to Down Detector, the outage began at around 07:30 BST and is affecting customers across the UK.

TSB has now acknowledged the issue, tweeting: “We are sorry that some of our customers are experiencing issues accessing our services this morning.

“Our teams are working to resolve this.”

So far, more than 2,100 problems have been recorded on Down Detector.

Of those who reported problems, 58 percent said they were having difficulties with mobile banking, while 28 percent said the problem was with online banking.

The remaining 14% said they were having issues with mobile login.

Although the TSB says it is working to resolve the issue, several users have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations.

'Seriously @TSB, how should I transfer money? You are the worst for online and in-app banking,” one user wrote.

Another added: 'I see the @TSB mobile app is doing what the @TSB app does, it doesn't work… again!

The TSB did not detail the reason for the interruption.

However, problems with banking apps and websites can often be caused by software updates or failed hardware components.

Andrew Hagger, founder of MoneyComms says: 'All software updates must go through a strictly controlled change management system and only be made live after they have been tested on non-live or development versions of the website.

'It could even be an issue with space availability in databases, however this sort of thing should be closely monitored as part of the daily IT service management maintenance controls.

“Sometimes problems are caused by inefficient legacy computer systems, especially when banks have merged and have different hardware and operating systems that are not as integrated as they could be.

“Cyber ​​attacks have the potential to bring services down, however, the security of banks’ IT systems is of the utmost importance and is taken extremely seriously by banks and individual regulators.”
