Donald Trump states that apart from immigration and the economy, there is another serious issue that could affect Kamala Harris' chances of being elected.
The White House response to hurricanes Helene and Milton has been deemed abysmal by critics who say not enough is being done to help Americans hit hardest by the devastating storms – and Trump says it could be the October surprise that hurts Democrats.
Meanwhile, the former president pushed claims that President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris are not responding appropriately because North Carolina, Florida and Georgia are red or red-leaning states.
“The other really important issue, I think, is how badly they did with North Carolina and parts of Georgia. When we look at what happened and Florida, we all see what's going on there, Trump told Fox host Maria Bartiromo Sunday.
Former President Donald Trump said Kamala Harris's response to hurricanes Milton and Helene could hurt her chances in the 2024 election.
I think we were a little lucky in the sense that it was bad, but it wasn't as bad as they thought. And many governors have done a good job. he continued: “But the White House response was absolutely terrible.”
“(Harris') reaction was terrible,” Trump said. “So bad that they didn't even want – I see (Governor) Ron (DeSantis) didn't want her in Florida: 'Just don't even come here.'
Trump and his allies say the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is giving only $750 to families in need, which has stoked fear among residents that if they accept the aid, the government could seize their homes.
The White House has repeatedly said it is disinformation and called on Trump to publicly correct his views.
During a campaign service Sunday at Koinonia Christian Center in Greenville, North Carolina, the vice president cited information Trump is spreading about the storm response.
“Honestly, unfortunately, the motives are quite transparent – the desire to gain benefits for yourself, playing politics with the broken hearts of other people,” she said.
President Biden ended Thursday's briefing on the response to Hurricane Milton awkwardly with an attack on his predecessor.
The president told Trump to “get a life,” and then in this brief update, he sharply criticized the former president and his allies for spreading disinformation about the federal government's response to the storms.
North Carolina continues to recover after being hit by Hurricane Helene earlier this month

At the end of the briefing, the president was asked if he had spoken to Trump.
– Are you kidding me? The 81-year-old laughed.
'You. President Trump, former President Trump – save lives, help these people,” he said in a message straight to the camera.
Bartiromo asked during his interview with Trump on Sunday Morning Futures: “We're only a few weeks away, over 20 days, from the election. What do you think about the race?
“I feel great,” Trump replied. “We lead in all the swing states, I think we lead mostly in nationals. You know, I'm a supporter of polls, some of them are fake. “And she cannot say – there is something wrong with the candidate, but I will accept it,” he said about his Democratic rival. But we do. I think we are doing very well. Yes.'
