Total War: PHARAOH, the next anticipated game in the popular strategy series from Creative Assembly and SEGA, has officially delayed its release on the Epic Games Store until “early 2024” according to a new post on Twitter.
The post further explains that the team at Epic has cancelled existing pre-orders, though fans who pre-ordered will be notified of this.
The Total War team has cited that they were asked to integrate “additional social functions” in order to launch on the Epic Games Store. As a result, none of the other storefront releases will be affected, so PC users can still purchase it on Steam.
Total War: PHARAOH is currently slated to launch on October 11th, 2023, with an Early Access Weekend scheduled for September 29th. Here’s the full delay statement from the Total War feed:
For fans who prefer to keep all of their titles in a single library, it may be quite frustrating for Total War: PHARAOH to be delayed this long, especially due to social features. It’s a pretty niche problem when broader polishing is normally the cause for delay, and helps avoid a messy launch on all platforms.
Hopefully, the additional social features will prove worthwhile once the game does launch on the Epic Games Store. A new, concrete release date should take some time. But the fans, as always, have proven patient and understanding, and the creative team does apologize for the delay.
Total War: PHARAOH looks promising enough, as the devs have released a variety of trailers since it was first announced. This has included extensive gameplay reveals, such as yesterday’s Suppiluliuma showcase and the Ramesses showcase from June.
The visuals look terrific, and there are some new features, though gameplay remains largely the same as some previous titles.
