Fortnite fans have been reminiscing about a much missed weapon over on the game’s subreddit – and now could be the perfect time to bring it back.

In a thread entitled “The Javelin was such an underrated weapon” a player by the name of Justa_Mystery posted an old clip of them using the Anvil Rocket Launcher – a rocket launcher with a powerful lock-on and an even more powerful blast. The clip itself shows them locking onto a player in a car, which is itself about to drive over a geyser that shoots it into the air. In spite of this, the missile successfully locks on, follows the car into the sky and blows the poor driver even further into the air before it explodes, getting a sky high kill worthy of awe.

“Into the stratosphere he went, never to touch the ground again” responded Peoplewearshoes, remarking on the incredible height the poor victim got. “Please unvault this Epic.” pleads empyr69er, a rallying call echoed by the OP and others like Ghjjiyeks. “Honestly, Javelin was so underrated, they should totes bring it back.” In fact the video has also reminded fans of the remote controlled rocket launcher, with Dont_Pay_the_Elves even keeping count. “1,788 days and counting without Guided Missile. Surely they’ll add it to Creative one day, right?”

Funnily enough – now may be the perfect time for Epic to get the Anvil or the Guided Missile out from the Vault, as this week will see gaming legend Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid arrive in Fortnite. The character’s use of rocket launchers is of course well documented, such as the Stinger and the famous Nikita remote controlled rocket launcher. So having the launchers come back in time for the arrival of Big Boss seems too perfect an opportunity to pass up.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens when Solid Snake arrives in Fortnite later this week. In the meantime, check out our Fortnite: Best guns in Chapter 5 and our weapons tier list or our Best Fortnite XP maps for power leveling (January 22, 2024)
