Thea Mowry admits her twin sister Tamera is 'not as approachable' as she used to be

Tia Mowry has admitted that her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, is 'not as approachable' as she used to be – but she clarified that 'everything is fine' between the two.

The 46-year-old Sister, Sister actress – who recently denied there was a rift between the siblings – opened up on Entertainment Tonight Friday about their relationship.

It comes after her comments on new reality series Thea Mowry: My Next Act, where she said she and Tamera were 'not close'. However, she later clarified that she simply meant the physical distance between them.

'She is a mother. Her children need her. She is also a wife. Her husband needs her,” the star said of Tamera.

'So she's not as accessible as she used to be. So I compare it to what it was before. But I just spoke to her yesterday.

Thea continued, 'Everything is fine. I say what my cousin says, everything is fine. period,' and added that her sibling is 'in a different place' in her life.

'She does her thing and I do mine. Same goes for my brother. We were doing seventeen back-to-back movies together,' the actress explained, referring to the 2000 film.

'I think the reason people go there is because our careers started together,' said Mowry.

But like any sibling, each one goes off to do their own thing, and you love them. You want them to fly as individuals and alone. So there is no harm in it.'

Thea and Tamera are known for starring in the sitcom Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999.

The pair worked together on other projects such as the film Twitches (2005) and its sequel two years later.

In 2011, the twin sisters starred in their own reality show, Tia and Tamera – which aired for a total of three seasons.

During Dia's own reality series, which aired earlier this month in October – she opened up about her relationship with Tamera.

Thea is mother to Cree, 13, and Cairo, six – who she shares with ex-husband Corey Hartricht.

A clip from the episode showed an emotional moment after the star dropped off her youngest child with Hartrich.

During a confessional, the actress revealed that 'being alone was the most challenging part of my divorce.'

'My sister and I feel like we want to be closer, we can pick up the phone and call whenever we feel like it. But that's not where we are now.'

However, late last month in September, Thea clarified to Us Weekly that she was talking about the physical distance between her and Tamera.

'You can hear it from me, and this is what I stress: As we grow up, we all start our own families, and I feel that their children need to lean on them.'

Mowry continued, 'We are starting to take on new roles and responsibilities in our lives. That's it.'

'In these transitions of life, sometimes you want a hug, you want someone to be as approachable as they used to be, and that's not the case. It's called life.'

'I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a close and beautiful bond,' added Diya.

'But that's what it's about. As life unfolds, it runs in many families.'

Regarding the reaction to her comments, Dia explained that it was 'taken out of context' and was 'not surprising'.

'When you've been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context, and that's what happens.'

'The only thing I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person I can be, and that's both of us. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we are all our lives. So, why change it now?'

Earlier this month, Thea denied a rift between the siblings during an interview on TODAY while promoting her new We TV reality series with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager.

'I've been in this industry for a long time and I know some things can be taken out of context, so that's it.'

“As siblings, as we get older, it's very normal to take on different roles and responsibilities,” Mowry added.

Some of the characters are married and mother. Her children lean on her. My kids lean on me, that's what I said. We're nowhere near that close.'

Tamera is the mother of two children: Aden, 11, and Aria, nine, who she shares with husband Adam Housley.

Tia explained, 'We don't live in the same town, same thing with my brother. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee.'

'This bond will always be there and there is so much love for each other and for each other, so I'm sorry.'
