D New York Jets There was a huge change in the coaching staff this week after back-to-back losses that showed just how deep the cracks in the team's offense run.

In their Week 4 loss to the Denver Broncos, the Jets only made three field goals. Aaron Rodgers He was sacked five times and had 14 hits and New York had 13 penalties. Another poor performance followed Sunday's loss to former quarterback Sam Darnold and the undefeated Minnesota Vikings in London.

A few days later, owner Woody Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh, and by Thursday, interim head coach and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbricht decided to relieve Nathaniel Hackett of his offensive coordinator duties.

The motivation behind the change is apparently a chance to restart the Jets' offense and turn them into once-projected Super Bowl contenders.

But was it the right call?

Pro Football Hall of Fame i Green Bay Packers The legendary Leroy Butler would apparently disagree.

“They are terrified. The owners are terrified,” Butler told Fox News Digital in an interview Thursday. “Sacking him made me think a lot because it's not the defense that's the problem, it's the offense that's the problem. So I think the fans thought, 'We can get Davante Adams,' and 'OK, if we can upset Minnesota,' and get Davante. Oh, we're on the right track.”

Despite the losses on the back end and the noise surrounding the organization, Butler argued that the Jets were not out of the woods yet. Victory over Bill Buffalo Monday night at home will put New York in first place in the AFC East.

“This division is not (undefeated) – they beat the Buffaloes and are in first place. Why are you panicking now?”

Butler speculated that the loss to Minnesota may have been the straw that broke the camel's back for Johnson. He also speculated about Rodgers' role in Salih's departure – a rumor he called “blatantly false”.

“No player is smarter than the coach. Nobody,” Butler told Fox News Digital. “I am a supporter of teachers. If it weren't for my teachers, I wouldn't be here.”

This week's changes will add a new level of pressure for the Jets in Monday's primetime games.

Passing game coordinator Todd Downing will take over play-calling duties as Ulbricht steps aside for the first time as an NFL head coach.
