The Jeep Compass is beaten by rivals from top to bottom, but it is still the best-featured SUV in its segment. Hence, the Compass Longitude, the intermediate version, which costs R$202,990, is an interesting buy. It has everything a complete car should have. Well, almost everything. To begin with, it costs R$19,000 less than the Compass Limited.
With this difference, it is possible to drive no less than 37,560 km, assuming an average speed of 12 km/l (PBEV) on the road, putting 3,130 liters of gasoline (national average R$ 6.07, according to ANP). Compass Longitude is worth considering as it offers almost everything that Compass Limited has.
We drove the Jeep Compass Longitude for five days in the city, on the highway, in rain and flooded areas, and it shows just how different this SUV still is. For example, the Toyota Corolla Cross XRX 2.0 is much smaller and doesn't have the same level of sophistication, plus it's less powerful (it's more economical). 161mm of wheelbase is 205mm and departure angle is 31 degrees against 36.
The corolla cross strikes the compass from below. Above, the attack comes from GWM's Haval H6. The Chinese SUV, being a hybrid, has many qualities and competitive prices, but when it comes to directional behavior, it does not even reach the belt of the compass.
The Jeep Compass is a solid car that drives well on any terrain and perfectly suits the taste of Brazilian consumers. It's a strong car in terms of suspension and can't go wrong on that score. Even in T270 Flex configuration, with 4×2 (front) traction, it has better dynamic behavior than its direct competitors.
For those who want to save a lot on the 2025 Jeep Compass, the best option is the Sport version, which has an unbeatable price: R$ 152,990. It is through direct sales, but according to Jeep, anyone with CPF can buy it.
However, to get more technique and equipment, you need to reach Compass Longitude, which we rate once again. The 185/180 HP engine (ethanol/petrol) responds well, 270 Nm of torque guarantees versatility on streets and good speed recovery on the road and the 6-speed automatic transmission allows manual shifts using the throttle.
The multimedia area, 10.1” screen and 10.25” digital panel are among the highest in the category. Connecting your smartphone to Compass Longitude is very easy. The sound is fresh, premium beats. Steering wheel and seats are leather. Even without power adjustment for the driver's seat, the driving position is excellent (one of the items that come with the pricier Compass Limited).
We disagree that the design of the Jeep Compass is “tired”. It has a good design and the car does not lose competition on the runway. Indeed, in capitalist society there is a certain urgency for change at this time, therefore, the longer a product is in its design it begins to criticize; Not always right.
In terms of security, the Compass Longitude Atas has a level 2 system:
- Active driving assistant
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go
- Automatic headlight switching
- Driver fatigue detection
- Lane change warning
- Forward collision warning with emergency braking by detecting pedestrians and cyclists
- Traffic sign recognition
One thing I like about the Compass Longitude over the Compass Limited is the size of the wheels (18-inch vs. 19-inch). With an 18-inch rim, the Compass Limited has more rubber in the profile, which improves comfort and avoids some hassle in the potholes. The tires are 225/55 R18 and the wheels have a new design for the 2025 series.
Fueled with ethanol, the Compass T270 gets 185 hp. It goes from 0 to 100 in 10.3 seconds on this fuel. Ethanol gets 7.2 kmpl in the city and 8.7 kmpl on the highway.
With petrol, the Goyana (PE)-made SUV loses 5 hp of power, but manages to achieve 10.1 km/l in the city and 12.0 on the highway. It depends on the region and the user's taste. As for CO2 emissions, both emit a lot while driving.
With petrol, it is 123g/km. With ethanol, it's even higher: 143 g/km. It is true that ethanol offsets part of the emissions during sugarcane growth, but it is not zero emissions as shown in Inmetro's PBEV table. Zero emissions, for now, are limited to electric cars.
