As if there wasn’t enough reason to tune in this year, The Game Awards 2023 is giving fans a chance to win a new Steam Deck OLED console. Valve released the Steam Deck OLED model a few weeks ago, but the device is looking to get into even more gamers’ hands thanks to the upcoming giveaway.
Despite its name, the Steam Deck OLED comes with far more improvements aside from the admittedly impressive display. In fact, the OLED model is implementing some improvements fans want from the Steam Deck 2, like additional battery life and better cooling. While the revised console comes in at the same price as the original Steam Deck, some lucky players won’t have to pay a single dime for the OLED model.
Valve’s Steam Deck OLED Might Have Spec Differences
The displays of some Steam Deck OLEDs might be different from others due to Valve having two different OLED display suppliers.
The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley is sharing on social media that fans who tune into the event can enter for a chance to win one of 100 Steam Deck OLED consoles (1TB version). The Sweepstakes will run just longer than The Game Awards 2023 runtime, from 4:30pm PT to 8pm PT.

Despite Geoff Keighley’s post, the official rules seem to imply that watching The Game Awards showcase isn’t necessary to enter. Rather, the contest will open up during the event and only requires that applicants fill out and submit a form. However, applicants can earn up to three additional entries by creating or verifying a Steam account and following both @ondeck and @thegameawards on Twitter.
Regardless of whether the contest requires viewing The Game Awards 2023, the show is being touted as a night video game fans won’t want to miss. Obviously, The Game Awards is about celebrating the best titles of the previous year, but the event has also become a showcase for announcements and reveals. Even Xbox is teasing big announcements for The Game Awards 2023. Not to mention, there are already games confirmed to be making an appearance at the event, like Baldur’s Gate 3, which will finally be getting its Xbox Series X/S release date.
Over the years, The Game Awards has seen some major announcements and reveals, and this upcoming show promises to be no different. There are several major rumored and leaked game announcements for The Game Awards 2023 floating around, and Keighley usually holds a few surprises up his sleeve for events like this. While some years are better than others, the critics and fans largely agree that the showcase reveals have seemed to get bigger and better.
