In a series of announcements throughout the year, Behaviour Interactive, the developer behind the popular online asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game, Dead by Daylight, has laid out ambitious plans for the franchise. The first revelation came in March 2023, as it was disclosed that Dead by Daylight would be adapted into a Hollywood horror film produced by Atomic Monster, the creators of M3GAN. Subsequently, in May 2023, more details emerged about the expansion of the franchise, with the announcement of a single-player interactive story title developed in collaboration with Supermassive Games.
Today, the official Dead by Daylight X account teased an upcoming reveal about the Supermassive Games Dead by Daylight project, set to debut tomorrow, at The Game Awards 2023. It was revealed that this title would take place outside The Entity’s Realm, featuring an entirely new ensemble of characters and offers an intense narrative experience. Apart from that, no other details have been disclosed, leaving fans intrigued.
In addition to the single-player game and movie adaptation, the Dead by Daylight franchise is also branching out into a multiplayer player-versus-environment (PVE) experience with teams of up to four players. This project s being developed by Midwinter Entertainment, which joined Behaviour Interactive in the summer of 2022. In June 2023, Behaviour Interactive further expanded the platforms of the franchise by dropping the first issue of the Dead by Daylight comic book series in collaboration with Titan Comics.
