The Front is an online survival-based game, where you’ll encounter other survivors who are just trying to make it by too. There is a lot of emphasis on multiplayer in this game, so you may want to know if you can talk too. We’ll let you know below if there’s some voice chat in the game.

This guide will detail whether or not there’s voice chat and some alternatives to voice chat you can use. To help you with anything else The Front related, check out our guides on How to Get Resin, Crude Oil, Polymer, and more on our The Front page.

Can you voice chat in The Front?

You cannot proximity chat or voice chat in The Front, even though it seems like the game should allow that. This feels like a bit of an oversight because while you can solo play, the game seems more focused on playing with others. In order to communicate with friends, you will need to use another service, such as Discord.

You can always see if a server has a special Discord chat, but those are pretty rare and the game isn’t popular enough to have that kind of a community. We’d suggest just giving up hope on talking with other unknowns until the developer adds this feature.

As for communicating with random users, we recommend squatting a few times to show you’re friendly. This is a well-known gamer gesture that tends to show you’re not looking for a fight. So if you’re not interested in meeting random people in The Front and working together without using voices, we don’t recommend going into public servers, and just playing the game by yourself.

There’s plenty to do on your own, and if you get lonely you can always just get some followers. If you’re interested in learning how, read our guide on getting followers in The Front.
