Since the game’s recent 1.5 update made a few changes, players are starting to make their picks for their favourite weapons in the online shooter’s ongoing meta, and now they’ve got a new pick for their arsenal of choice for the Medium class.
Over on The Finals subreddit, a thread by the user Ground_Technical sees the community extoling the virtues of the CL-40 Grenade Launcher in the current meta. “My only (slight) gripe is the self inflicted splash damage but other than that it’s been my main Medium gun for a while now and it’s generally just a fun gun to use” – they say as their justification, and get plenty of agreement with their statement from fellow community members.
Rendar goes into more detail: “Grenade launcher is the best support medium weapon with Healing beam, by a large margin. This is predicated upon working with a pocket heavy who focuses on frontline oppression and environmental displacement, that you move around with jump pad/zipline.” It’s also upq700hp’s favourite weapon too, saying “It’s honestly my fave on medium. Just so fun to use when you focus entirely on support otherwise.” Atomlib_com is also a fan, saying they play exclusively with the weapon. “Most importantly, CL-40 is a nice treatment against a heavy carrying a nuke. One shot and he pops, sometimes with a friend. Of course, the important part is to notice them first.”
Of course, not everyone has such glowing praise for the grenade launcher – such as idroevan, who says “It’s ok but not great. You can do some useful stuff out of combat to move cashout boxes and team mates revive statues. I feel very suppressed when it’s being fire on the room I’m in but doesn’t seem to affect some crazies.” Skedar adds “Its not a 1v1 weapon thats for sure, i just wish its damage radius was a liiiitle bigger, also more structural damage.”
Howdidmynamegettaken though sums it up well “People are absolutely sleeping on it. That’s not to say I think it’s great. Honestly, I think either another round or two, or perhaps a reload speed buff would make it a more serious option. That aside, it provides immense utility, can dish out remarkable AOE damage, and can handle itself in 1v1s with lights (2 shots) and medium (3 shots). It’s not a meta defining weapon at all, but using it consistently for a week or two, I’m surprised at how versatile a weapon it is.”
