Fans of the The Boys are eagerly waiting for the coming of Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 but the villain in superhero disguise will not be voiced by his iconic actor.
The Boys Star Antony Starr revealed on Instagram (as found out by Uppercut Editions, LLC.) that he’s not lending his voice to the character when he appears as a DLC in Netherrealm Studios’ game.
No explanation has been provided, but this is fairly surprising since the first DLC character Omni Man was indeed voiced by his voice actor from the Amazon Prime TV series, J. K. Simmons.
At the moment, it isn’t known who will voice Homelander in the game, despite the fact that he definitely seems to have Antony Starr’s likeness. We reached out to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to inquire about that and on the reasons why Antony Starr isn’t involved in the DLC.
If you’re unfamiliar with the game’s DLC plans, the Kombat Pack 1 includes six DLC characters to be delivered in a staggered calendar.
It was announced months before the game was even out (as it appears to be the norm nowadays), and it includes Omni Man, Homelander, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, and three returning Mortal Kombat characters Quan Chi, Ermac, & Takeda Takahashi.
Of course, at this point, we’re also wondering whether John Cena will reprise his role as Peacemaker (we also asked this in our inquiry to Warner Bros. and we’ll let you know if we hear anything back).
Homelander will be released in spring 2024, while the game is already available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
