This past weekend saw the complete eradication of the Automatons in Helldivers 2 after players completed the Major Order that was taking place. Once this was complete, players were left with just the Terminids to battle and the universe looked incredibly baron with only a few planets accessible. This has led to speculation as to what is next for the game, but those questions have been answered because after just one day, the Automatons are back in Helldivers 2 and they are back with a vengeance.
In a post on X, Arrowhead Game Studios announced the return of the Automaton saying “As suspected all along, the previous Bot force was merely a vanguard. A massive fleet has now begun an assault of Cyberstan and the surrounding planets. Helldivers, hold back this unprovoked invasion. The fight continues!” As expected, the Automatons have come back to the game stronger than before, but I don’t think many people expected them to return this fast. However, if you prefer them over the Terminids, like me, then I’m sure this is great news for you.
With the Automatons now back in the game, it does beg the question as to when we will see the next threat come to Helldivers 2. It has been rumored for a while that The Illuminate is set to come to the game, and recently players have been seeing cloaked ships in the sky, which has yet to be explained by the story or Arrowhead Game Studios, so it is unclear whether this was a visual glitch or part of the lore. Only time will tell, but for now, it is time to serve some Liber-tea to the robots once again.
While we all expected the Automatons to make a return to Helldivers 2 one day, especially as it would stop players from being able to obtain the Platinum trophy, we didn’t expect them to return after just one day away.
