Rec Room has announced a massive collaboration with the hit studio Bungie to bring an interesting new area to the social space. In an unexpected but intriguing move, the Destiny 2 universe will merge with the world, giving you and your friends a chance to be Guardians once again.
You will have no doubt have heard of the Destiny series, Bungie’s most popular first-person shooter if you ignore that other one. You play the role of a Guardian, special soldiers who wield earth-shattering elemental powers and super guns to beat back any intergalactic threat that arises. Provided you are willing to keep buying those expansions.
Starting today, when you step into the Rec Room you can find yourself face to face with the magnificent Tower, the hub from Destiny. This iconic building has been faithfully brought over into the virtual space. Exploring the famous place where the Guardians planned every move sounds like a pretty cool experience for fans.
Environment aside, let’s look at the actual gameplay. Dubbed Destiny 2: Guardian Gauntlet, it will purportedly combine the action-packed world of the Bungie favourite, with the community-driven approach of Rec Room. You will be able to embark on an epic adventure and train as a Guardian with friends, hopefully, complete with your own faithful Ghost at your side.
What you can do, however, is dress yourself up as your favourite class. There is a trove of avatar cosmetics based on the three Destiny classes’ the bulky Titan, the mystical Warlock, and the totally unbiased best class of them all, the Hunter. You can get your hands on the Huner set and weapon skins now, and if you must have the other two, the additional weapon skins and class sets for Titans and Warlock will unlock in the coming weeks.
Rec Room is available to download from the App Store and Google Play now.
