Tom completed his collection of Olympic medals when he teamed up with Noah Williams to win silver in the men's synchronized 10m platform in Paris.

It was the 30-year-old's fifth medal in his five appearances at the Games for Team GB, the first coming 18 years ago in Beijing as a 14-year-old.

Recalling the timing of his career after his Paris win, the father-of-two told Vogue: 'At the end, on the podium, knowing it was my last competitive dive was emotional.

'But I have to make a decision at some point and I feel like this is the right time to call it a day.

'I've done this my whole life and it's going to be hard to give it up. This will be a big adjustment.

'I want people to remember me as someone who persevered, persevered and never gave up until he achieved his dream.

'I feel very proud to be Britain's most decorated diver at the moment. When I look back, I'm really satisfied with what I did.'
