Switzerland schedule and competitions

The European Women's Football Championship will kick off in Switzerland on July 2. The national team will face Norway in Basel in the opening match. Two weeks later, on July 27, the competition will host its final at the same venue.

The Swiss women's national team under new coach Pia Sundhage will host the tournament. Despite this, the team completed the qualifying campaign and won five of six games.

The national team also had some luck in the Euro 2025 draw. The Swiss team faced strong opponents in matches against Norway, Iceland and Finland. The two best teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals.

Which teams are participating in the European Cup?

A total of 16 teams qualified for the European Cup finals. Switzerland was chosen as the host nation. The other eight teams advance directly through the European Cup qualifying rounds. The other seven contestants were determined through three rounds of playoffs.

Who won the last European Cup?

The last Women's European Championship was held in England in 2022. The tournament was originally due to take place in the summer of 2021 but has also been postponed by a year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the international football calendar.

The host England team defeated Germany 2-1 in overtime in the final to win the championship.
