Nintendo has unexpectedly released a new update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, bringing the game to version 13.0.3.
Today’s update is about addressing an issue regarding Global Smash Power. Nintendo points out that the patch may cause compatibility issues with previous versions, so players are advised to convert them to video before installing the update.
The official patch notes for today’s update are as follows:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update version 13.0.3 patch notes
Online
- Fixed an issue in which Global Smash Power would not return to appropriate levels when the connection was disrupted with specific timing at the end of a match.
Note: There may be compatibility issues with replays from Ver. 9.0.0 to 13.0.2. Replays from Ver. 8.1.0 and earlier are not compatible. If you want to keep your replays, convert them into videos before installing the update. You can do this via Vault → Replays → Replay Data → Convert to Video.
This is the first update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate since February. However, it was an expected patch to add compatibility with the Sora amiibo.
Nintendo has largely moved on from the game, which makes sense since there are no more DLC characters planned and it’s several years old at this point. Still, it looks like patches will continue to be offered if they’re required for bug fixes or anything else the company deems necessary.
