It’s time for another look at the UK boxed sales charts, and for the week ending October 28th, Nintendo has cause for celebration.
In last week’s charts, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 managed to web up Super Mario Wonder, but now, Nintendo’s platformer has leapt over its rival and claimed the number one spot.
Of course, the still rather excellent Spider-Man 2 is sitting at number two, so Sony and Insomniac shouldn’t worry about losing their edge quite yet.
Number three this week goes to EA Sports FC 24, which is likely to stick around in the charts for quite some time, especially given its lack of any real rival in the football (or “soccer”) gaming sphere.
A new entry has snuck in at fourth in the form of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1, which should tide you over while you wait for Konami’s spectacular-looking Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.
In fifth, it’s Ubisoft’s back-to-basics stealth sandbox Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Hopefully, the game’s strong sales performance will convince Ubisoft to make more games with this approach.
Sixth place goes to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which, likely thanks to strategic use of blue shells and Bullet Bill powerups, will seemingly never leave the charts.
Seventh place goes to another new entry in the form of EA Sports UFC 5, which features a bevy of new and returning game modes for you to enjoy.
In eighth, it’s wizarding open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy, while ninth place goes to Nintendo Switch Sports. Minecraft brings up tenth place, proving that it really is perennial.
Eleventh through fifteenth places are as follows: Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate (which hasn’t been supplanted by Mortal Kombat 1 after all), Grand Theft Auto V, Street Fighter 6, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Sonic Superstars.
That’s all for this week! What will be number one next week? Stick around to find out.
