super mario rpg 100 percent

If you’re looking to 100 percent complete Super Mario RPG, the game makes that kind of tough in a few particular ways. The good news is that the game is a little bit on the short side. If you’re playing through the game for the first time, it shouldn’t take you any more than around 15 hours to beat. That being said, prepare for a challenge when it comes to completion.

We have the full rundown below. Just be aware that this guide contains some spoilers before proceeding.

Super Mario RPG 100 percent completion requirements

Super Mario RPG 100% Completion

The game’s main campaign is easy to play through, and you’ll probably finish that in 15 hours or less. If you’re going for the full Super Mario RPG 100 percent experience, however, you’ll probably spend somewhere around 30 hours instead. That’s because there are tons of little things and secrets in this game and they eventually add up to a whole lot of hours. Some tasks – specifically 100 coins on Midas River and 100 Super Jumps – are just crazy, and not all players will be able to pull those off. That’s okay! Here’s our full list of requirements, then:

  1. Raise all characters to Level 30. That’s actually as high as their levels can go in this game. For more information on how to level up characters, check out our corresponding guide. The best place to grind is against the Machine Made Speardovich enemies right before the Factory.
  2. Maxed-out Flower Points. There are plenty of Flower Tabs and Flower Jars throughout the game – if you miss some on Booster Hill, you can go back and get the rest. Otherwise, the best way to max your FP to 99 is to buy a bunch of Mushrooms from Seaside Town. Then head next door and give them to the Toad inside – there’s a 1 in 20 chance that he’ll give you a Flower Tab each time. If you get all the finite Flowers from the main story, you will need 4 Flower Tabs from this Toad to max out your stat.
  3. Complete Monster List. This includes Thought Peeks, too. There’s an NPC in Booster Pass who accepts 3 Frog Coins in exchange for a free Thought Peek entry. If you need to farm some Frog Coins, we’ve got a great method right here.
  4. Complete Scrapbook. This one is deceptively difficult. In addition to chronicling all the in-game story events, the Scrapbook also has a few hidden entries. One unlocks after you complete the game’s superboss, which means this task involves clearing all the boss rematches. There are also optional entries for getting your picture taken in Marrymore, staying at the Marrymore Suite, meeting Link and Samus in their respective hotels, and getting 100 coins in the Midas River course (the maximum possible amount). That last one is super tough.
  5. 100 Super Jumps and the Super Suit obtained. This is probably going to be what prevents most players from obtaining 100 percent completion. The first fifteen Super Jumps are easy enough, but after that, it becomes roughly a three-frame window for the remaining 85 inputs. We did indeed accomplish this task prior to writing this guide. Our best recommendation is to empty your mind and try to imagine a rhythm in your head. You need to press the button right after Mario stomps on the enemy – more specifically, right when he’s about to get off of the enemy. Try practicing Super Jumps on Spikeys and Spikesters, and use the Earlier Times item from the Frog Sage’s student in Seaside Town to restart the battle to conserve FP. This is a lot to take in, but practice and you’ll get it eventually!
  6. All Hidden Treasures collected. There are 39 of them in the game. The Echo Signal Ring obtained in Nimbus Land goes a long way in helping out here. A treasure chest NPC in Monstro Town will tell you how many hidden treasures are left to find.
  7. All Apprentices promoted. In a secret area of Booster Pass is a Snifit looking to become one of Booster’s Snifsters. Let him defeat you and he’ll be promoted. There are four other apprentices here too, so you’ll need to lose to all of them. If you’re too high-level for him to kill you, try losing HP in Weapon World against stronger enemies and then coming back on 1 HP. Every time an apprentice beats you, you respawn with 1 HP, so when the first one does manage to defeat you, the other four won’t have to try much harder either.
  8. All Frog Coin accessories purchased. You get these from the Frog Sage’s student, who lives in the elder’s house in Seaside Town. Take a look at the Frog Coin farming guide we mentioned above for more help here.
  9. All Gold Medals earned in the Play Report. This entails playing every minigame to completion – Midas River, Goomba Thump, Mine-Car Race, Beetle Race, Paratroopas, and Beetle Mania. This includes the casino games, too. Yes, you do have to play Look-the-Other-Way 100 times. Yes, it is definitely a waste of time.
  10. Baby Yoshi fully fed. If you feed the baby Yoshi in Yo’ster Isle more than around 25 cookies, he will grow in size and give you items any time you give him more cookies. You can bet cookies on the Mushroom Derby and win more of them rather easily, so keep giving him cookies until he gives you a Frog Coin.

There are a few other things too that probably count here, including the Toadofsky Melodies, getting the Sheep Attack, and more. That’s the thing about this game – there are so many little things to do! These are certainly the major ones, though, and everyone’s definition of full 100 percent completion in Super Mario RPG is going to be different from person to person. If there’s something that should be part of this list, feel free to let us know below. We’ll be happy to add it to the big pile of requirements.

In the meantime, we have plenty of other Super Mario RPG guides that’ll help you get closer to full 100% completion. We’ve got the Three Musty Fears side quest, a full list of boss rematch strategies, Frog Coin farming, and more.
