Bethesda Game Studios RPG have a tendency to be mind-bogglingly massive experiences even at launch, and continue to only grow in size with significant post-launch support in the form of various updates and expansions. The recently-released Starfield very much seems to be following that same trajectory- but though we know Bethesda will release DLC for the sci-fi RPG, when exactly can we expect that DLC?

An answer to that question is still not clear. Speaking in a recent interview with Famitsu, director Todd Howard reiterated that Starfield will indeed get DLC, though he was unwilling to offer any details on when that will happen. He said, “We will release DLC, but when we will release it is a secret.”

Starfield’s first story expansion has already been confirmed. Called Shattered Space, access to the DLC is included in the game’s Premium and Constellation Editions. Prior to the game’s launch, Howard also said that it will get “a lot” of post-launch DLC of “varying sizes”.

Meanwhile, full modding support will also arrive sometime in 2024.

Starfield has attracted over 6 million players across all platforms, becoming Bethesda’s biggest launch to date, and also saw a peak of over 1 million concurrent players on the day of its release. Read our review of the sci-fi RPG through here, where we awarded it a score of 10/10.

Starfield is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
