A new leak from Honkai: Star Rail has revealed a scrapped feature from an early build of the game that would have seen the Trailblazer going on dates with other characters. The launch of the HoYoverse RPG earlier this year included plenty of things for players to do right from its release. Alternate game modes like the Simulated Universe and Forgotten Hall were made available immediately with Version 1.0, while future updates would include a variety of different event mini-games. Now, Honkai: Star Rail apparently had even more to do in an early build of the game.

One of the most popular aspects of Honkai: Star Rail early on has been its colorful cast of characters. Players are quickly introduced to the members of the Astral Express following the game’s tutorial, meeting popular cast members like March 7th, Dan Heng, and Himeko while aboard the Herta Space Station. Others like Kafka and Fu Xuan have become fan-favorites, both for their role in the game’s story and their powerful abilities. However, a scrapped feature from the game’s development would have seen players able to get even closer with the game’s cast.

A recent leak shared by prominent HoYoverse leaker UBatcha shares details about a scrapped dating sim within Honkai: Star Rail. According to the leak, the dating sim aspect would have been tied to a “Reputation” system for the game’s Paths, similar to Genshin Impact‘s regional Reputation. One of the tasks within the Reputation system would see players able to take characters like March 7th and Dan Heng to see a movie, gaining progress based on the chosen character and movie. The leaks do not confirm why the feature was eventually scrapped.

A potential dating sim within Honkai: Star Rail would likely follow in the footsteps of a similar feature within HoYoverse’s previous RPG. Genshin Impact‘s Hangout system includes dating sim elements within its character-specific stories, offering players different choices to progress the quest. Genshin‘s Hangout quests also feature multiple endings, with the player’s choices leading to different outcomes and rewarding players for discovering more endings. Honkai: Star Rail does feature “Companion Missions” for its four-star characters, though they do not include any dating sim elements.

While Honkai: Star Rail‘s dating sim features were eventually cut, the game has seen plenty of unique mini-games throughout its early life. HoYoverse has featured multiple management-themed events and mini-games, both with Version 1.1’s “Everwinter City Museum” event and Version 1.3’s “Aurum Alley’s Hustle and Bustle.” Star Rail has also added multiple new iterations on its permanent game modes, with the Simulated Universe receiving two expansions with “Swarm Disaster” and “Gold and Gears.” Fans can only hope that Honkai: Star Rail may eventually re-visit the scrapped dating sim.
