The brand new South Park television special South Park: Joining the Panderverse has been quick to jump on the Baldur’s Gate 3 bandwagon, but it got a relevant detail wrong.
As showcased by X (formerly Twitter) user Burnouts3 with a rather funny clip, the episode showcases a desperate Eric Cartman realizing that the Baldur’s Gate 3 save game has not transferred across universes, causing the loss of 50 hours of gameplay.
To that Stan responds “Save games don’t even cross between PCs and PS5s, why would they cross between multiple universes.”
It appears that Stan may have forgotten that Baldur’s Gate 3 does, in fact, support cross-saves.
Larian Studios itself answered to set the record straight.
Hello @SouthPark
While Baldur’s Gate 3 saves can’t cross multiversal barriers, we can confirm they do actually transfer between PC and PS5!
Funnily, Baldur’s Gate 3 appears to be featured rather prominently in the special, as you can see in the official clip below.
So there you go, Paramount, if you want to pander to gamers (see what I did here?) by inserting the latest cool video game in your cartoons, you may want to at least do your homework.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a critically acclaimed and fan-beloved RPG by Larian Studios based on D&D 5th Edition and the long-running Forgotten Realms universe. It’s the sequel of the original games released between 1998 and 2000 by BioWare.
If you’d like to read more, you can enjoy our enthusiastic review. It’s currently available for PC and PS5, while an Xbox Series X|S version is expected before the year.
The game was originally not released on Xbox due to issues with split-screen on the Xbox series S, but skipping the feature pretty much opened the gates to the arrival of the port.
