Sons of the Forest is an excellent survival game with horror elements. It has creepy unsettling cannibals and monsters lurking in the trees at night, and it is no less a nightmare during the day regardless if you have a triple-legged woman by your side. The game has been in early access, meaning it has been far from complete. Fortunately, the developer has now announced the release date for Sons of the Forest 1.0 so fans know exactly when it leaves early access and becomes more proper.
Neither PS5 or Xbox have Sons of the Forest. It’s possible it could join consoles after early access, but nothing has been announced, unlike the release of 1.0. Although it is a sequel to the 2014 original, you do not need to have braved The Forest to enjoy Endnight Games’ newest terror. All you need to know is that there are woods, there are creepy beings, and you need to survive through crafting, collecting resources, and being smart.
Some have not ventured into the woods yet due to being more afraid of the early access disclaimer. For these fans, the good news is that you don’t have too much to longer wait for the full release.
Sons of the Forest 1.0 release date
The release date for Sons of the Forest 1.0 is February February 22nd. This has been confirmed by EndnightGame on Twitter, and it’s one year after the launch of early access on Steam. Again, there’s still no word on a release date or port for PS5 and Xbox consoles. Endnight Games’ announcement doesn’t provide too many details, but it says there is more Shawn Ashmore voicing Timmy as his role in the game and story is expanded.
If you don’t want to wait until February next year, you can buy early access right now. It is currently £24.99 on Steam. Per the early access overview on Steam, there are no plans to increase the price. As for how 1.0 will differ, the game’s Steam page says the full version will include ‘bug fixes and improvements on balance and core gameplay’ as well as ‘more items, more things you can 3d print, more to build and discover, as well as adding additional game mechanics and lore.’
Hopefully, it does to PlayStation and Xbox consoles shortly after the 1.0 launch. Endnight Games has said in an interview with Gamingbolt that they ‘would love to come to console in the future,’ but this is all that has been said for the time being. There’s also no word on if there will be a VR version of the game similar to The Forest.
