Sega just announced a brand new Sonic game, titled Sonic Dream Team, but you’ll need an Apple Arcade subscription to play it.
Defined as Sonic’s new 3D action platformer, Dream Team is coming exclusively to Apple Arcade on December 5.
This means that you’ll be able to play it only on iOS devices, Apple TV, and Macs.
The story sees the evil Doctor Eggman having discovered the Reverie, an ancient artifact of power capable of manifesting his dreams in real life. Of course, he immediately starts using it in his quest for world domination.
As Sonic and his beloved friends, you’ll have to navigate Eggman’s twisted dreamscapes to rescue members of the gang and ultimately stop Eggman’s plot.
Of course, the plot is interesting, bit the gameplay is king, and this time we get multiple characters to play with. The cast includes six playable characters, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Cream, and Rouge, and each of them will have their own unique abilities to bring to the fight.
You can check out the gameplay below, including snippets of animation by Powerhouse Animation Studios. It also includes a track composed by Tee Lopes with instrumentation by Jonny Atma.
If you’re not subscribed to Apple Arcade and want to enjoy a very good Sonic game, Sonic Superstars has just been released and our Christian Buckley awarded it with an 8 out of 10 in his review, mentioning that it “elevates 2D Sonic beyond nostalgia after a definitive greatest hits entry.”
If you’re planning to subscribe to Apple Arcade to play Sonic Dream Team, you may want to know that the price has just been increased to $6.99 a month, a 40% increase over the previous $4.99.
Prices in other regions have also been changed accordingly, from €4.99 to €6.99 in Europe and £4.99 to £6.99 if you’re located in the UK.
