Colossal Order, the Cities: Skylines 2 devs, have recently released a statement that the game’s performance issues are not caused by teeth.

There had previously been rumours that CS2’s performance issues were caused by high-poly teeth. Paradox have since refuted this:

Citizen lifepath feature does not tie to citizen geometry and does not affect the performance figures of the characters. We know the characters require further work, as they are currently missing their LODs which affect some parts of performance. We are working on bringing these to the game along general LODs improvements across all game assets. Characters feature a lot of details that, while seemingly unnecessary now, will become relevant in the future of the project.

Their statement addressed “a quick update on Cities: Skylines 2 as there is a bizarre story doing the rounds that the documented performance issues are due to the game trying to render every citizen’s teeth,” and was sent to VideoGamer via email.

A patch was recently released for Cities: Skylines 2 which looks to address the performance issues which many thought were due to rendering teeth. This idea went viral on Reddit, though has since been debunked.

What is it they say? An apple a day keeps the performance issues away.
