Skibidi Toilet company Invisible Narratives and creator “Dafuq Boom” has filed a DMCA against Garry’s Mod for: “unauthorized” usage of Skibidi Toilet characters.
The great irony here is that Skibidi Toilet was actually made with assets from Garry’s Mod. Game dev Garry Newman (for who the game is named) posted the takedown notice with some information redacted on the official S&box Discord server). Skibidi Toilet is a popular series of videos that have been criticized for its zoomer brainrot, but let’s be honest: we were all laughing at PINGAS and POOTIS at some point.
Regardless, some fans came to the defense of Dafuq Boom since it’s possible that the DMCA notice was sent automatically by a bot or overzealous lawyer.
In fact, Dafuq Boom appears to have joined the S&box Discord server in what appears to be an attempt to set things right. Which is understandable, given the assets for Skibidi Toilet belong to Garry’s Mod. Whether the DMCA was intentional or not, it’s not a good look for something that was original a fanwork.
The popularity of Skibidi Toilet has made it a worldwide phenomenon, with a live-action movie apparently in the works.
