Lausanne – Geneva

Defending champion Geneva-Servette secured an excellent starting position in Switzerland's 5-0 away victory over Lausanne in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

The Championship Hockey League seems to have unlocked an extra edge for Servette. Geneva lifted the trophy last season despite failing to qualify in the National League and failing in the play-offs following the title. Head coach Jan Cadiux's side have also faltered in the current championship, currently sitting in 12th place. So far, it is far behind its own requirements. Both games against Lausanne were lost by one goal.

But in the first leg of the round of 16, in front of 8,973 spectators at the Arena in Lausanne, the Genevans showed themselves effectively and taught the Canton de Vaud team a lesson. Sakari Manninen gave the visitors the lead ten seconds before the first break. In the 23rd minute, Geneva defender Roger Carrel had to take a shower due to a head injury. Lausanne had an excellent chance to equalize. But not only did they fail to do anything meaningful for the majority of 4:38 minutes, they even lost 2-0 via Tanner Richard 23 seconds after being eliminated. The home team had no reaction, but Ulla Parvey (35th), Markus Granlund (45th) and Parvey (60th), on loan from Achoje, extended the lead 5-0 to Servette.
